Ondeck is working with MUSC to deliver the advanced Security courses for the first time in Antigua.

 

MUSCs credentials in this field are second to none, with delivery by  Mr Richard Hussey who is an acknowledged subject matter expert in his field. He has a world wide portfolio of Port and ships security surveys, assessments and provision of security.

 

We are running the CSO and SSO as a combined 3 day course so you will receive both linked certifications  

 
SHIP SECURITY OFFICER COURSE – 3 DAY (COMBINED WITH CSO)


This UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) approved training programme provides ship's officers with the knowledge and skills to carry out their duties as a designated Ship Security Officer (SSO), in accordance with the International Ship and Port Facility (ISPS) Code. The course also incorporates the 2010 Manila amendments.

 

Course Prerequisites

 

A minimum of 12 months seagoing service on vessels over 80gt or 24M is required to qualify for an STCW compliant SSO Certificate. SSO Delegates without the pre-course experience will receive an endorsed certificate of Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD) which can be upgraded to an SSO qualification once evidence is obtained that the minimum sea going requirement has been reached.


Compliance

 

The MUSC SSO course is accredited by the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency and, as such, is recognised by every Maritime Administration in the world.  It includes the 2010 Manila Amendments and conforms to Regulation VI/5, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/5, paragraphs 1 to 4 of the STCW  Convention and Code 1978,  as amended and incorporates Proficiency in Security Awareness and Designated Security Duties laid down in Regulation VI/6 and Section A-VI/6 of the STCW Convention and Code.

 



 
COMPANY SECURITY OFFICER COURSE – 3 DAY (COMBINED WITH SSO)
 
This Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and UK Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) approved training programme provides shipping company officers and managers with the knowledge and skills to carry out duties as a designated Company Security Officer (CSO) in accordance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.


The course covers:


∙  Implementation and maintenance of Ship's Security Plans
∙  Monitoring the ship's security officer, security systems and processes
∙  Training and motivating company and ship personnel in the performance of security related duties
 
Who Should Attend


Company management personnel who have been, or are likely to be, appointed as Company Security Officers under the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.


Combined CSO/SSO Course Content


∙  Duties and training of a Company Security Officer (CSO) and Ship Security Officer (SSO).
∙  Understanding the ISPS Code
∙  Threats to maritime security
∙  Security measures required at each security level
∙  Ship Security surveys and assessment
∙  Planning and monitoring ship security
∙  Security training and drills
∙  Applying the Declaration of Security
∙  Overview of port facility security
∙  Dealing with stowaways, piracy and hostage-taking
∙  Identifying weapons and improvised explosive devices
∙  Security equipment and systems; capabilities and limitations

PORT FACILITY SECURITY OFFICER COURSE – 3 DAY
