RYA Radar

Now commonplace on both sailing and motor boats, Radar is an invaluable aid for pilotage, navigation and for collision avoidance. However, it is only useful in the hands of a knowledgeable and experienced operator. This one day course provides the knowledge for you to then gain the experience.

This course is ideal for those working up to Yachtmaster or Advanced Powerboat and candidates should have a basic understanding of the navigation and the collision regulations.

Because radar is an invaluable aid, this course includes lifetime access to an approved radar simulator.

$195usd pp. Please click on the 'Training Dates & Booking' button on the right to check available dates. We may not have any dates scheduled but please be sure to contact us directly and we will be able to arrange an available day.

There is a swim platform at the back, allowing for easy access to and from the water.

The yacht is a 40ft sailing yacht that can take 6 guests comfortably up to a maximum of 8. From our base in English Harbour the area is both historic and dramatic. A half day would allow a sail to Carlisle Bay for example and a swim and drink stop. On a full day you can get further up the west coast or to Green Island.

Itineraries are weather dependent. Cost is $525 for a half and $980 for a full day for up to 4 persons.

Own Boat Courses and Tuition

We do offer own boat tuition and it can be very popular as it allows you to still achieve RYA qualifications in a familiar environment.

It can be useful to those who have just got a new vessel or for students who wish to improve any aspect of their skills. We can either follow the RYA syllabus for whichever course is most appropriate or we can offer ad hoc training at your own pace from 1 day to week

It is also popular with families and we can do a mix of Day Skipper and Competent Crew students or, for more advanced students, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore.

Your vessel must meet basic safety standards which we can run through and advise on.

Cost is US $385 per day plus any training materials and this covers from 1-5 students.

Antigua to Bermuda Race

The Antigua to Bermuda Race is on for a 7th May 2024 start

Coming soon after Antigua Sailing Week we will have Spirit of Juno available for individual or small group places and a Beneteau 36.7 available for whole boat chartes or individual places

The Antigua Bermuda Race will start from Antigua May 7th 2024. The 935nm oceanic race is managed by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club in association with Antigua Sailing Week, and supported by the Bermuda Tourism Authority and Goslings Rum. The race is designed to suit a wide range of yachts and crew, with memorable parties both in Antigua and Bermuda.

After leaving Antigua the fleet pass Barbuda and will be out of sight of land until the finish in Bermuda. The race is an experience of about 1,000 miles of tropical Atlantic sailing - a true blue ocean adventure. Sailing in the deep, competitors will experience reaching conditions in warm oceanic swell and a magical night sky.

In 2024, our Beneteau First 36.7 will be participating before returning to Charleston for the summer.
